You’ll be blown away by the iconic sights and scenery on the Isle of Skye and can indulge in some of Scotland’s finest seafood at the fishing port of Oban. There’s even the chance to travel on the famous Jacobite Steam Train, one of the greatest rail journeys in the world. Your passionate local guide will tell tales of Viking history, myths, and legends.

Itinerary

Today, depart Edinburgh for the Highlands. Visit Dunkeld and travel through Cairngorms National Park to Culloden Battlefield. See the mysterious standing stones of Clava Cairns. Later, arrive in Inverness for an overnight stay.

Depart Inverness and join the spectacular North Coast 500 trail along the stunning coastline. Visit the fairytale Dunrobin Castle and a local whisky distillery before a ferry journey to Orkney. Spend two nights in at Kirkwall.

Today, visit the Italian Chapel. Spend time exploring Orkney’s Neolithic history with stops at Skara Brae, Ring of Brodgar and the Stones of Stenness. In the afternoon explore the stunning Yesnaby Cliffs. Return to Kirkwall+.

Take a ferry back to the mainland to re-join the North Coast 500 trail. Stop at Smoo Cave and Knockan Crag before arriving in Ullapool for an overnight stay.

Travel through awe-inspiring landscapes to the Isle of Skye. Pass Eilean Donan Castle, before crossing the Skye Bridge. Visit Kilt Rock with its impressive cascading waterfall before an overnight stay in Portree.

Visit the stunning Sleat Peninsula and drive through the magnificent Cuillin Mountains before taking a ferry to Mallaig. Enjoy a ride on the Jacobite Steam Train. Continue to Oban for a two night stay.

Today, travel back to Edinburgh. See the ruins of Kilchurn Castle, pass the Wallace Monument and visit the iconic Kelpies before arriving in Edinburgh in the early evening. +Some departures will stay in Stromness due to accommodation availability
